I hear whispers of hope and healing in your words. Gentle hugs for you and Mack. (Look at those lovely polished wood steps and no railing, "Oh please, Regina, don't skip up and down them in your stocking feet!)
You always wrote so movingly about how you started over before. I remember you wrote about going through the course catalogue at a local college to pick out classes that seemed interesting to you, because you weren't sure what you wanted to do for a career. You built an entire journalism and writing career! Strength to you!
Thanks for sharing your words and the ones you’ve collected that inspire you. I’m in the middle of the long goodbye with my husband who has Alzheimer’s disease. We’re both only 73 so I’m committed to not losing my quality of life while I’m taking care of his. And some days I just look in the mirror and say “Buckle up, Buttercup.”
While I'm not sure I'd celebrate this latest detour (yet), I would be grateful for "getting" to have loved a man; vowing to love forever & mean it and being responsible, kind & emotionally healthy to even, BE, in a relationship. A self-help group I go to has 'sayings' or "tools" to empower us. Two "tools" I like best are: "To Know is To Know That We Don't Know Why People Act the Way They Do" & "People Can Be Rude, Crude or Indifferent Without (Necessarily) Meaning To Be So". Your Creator understands the real you, 'knew' you before you were born & knows your deepest pain, shame & joy.
It’s amazing to me that you are educating us in grace and innovation. I admire your bravery and creativity. I am especially glad you still have Max!! ♥️💜💚🩵💙🩷💜💚🩵💙
