Pausing is my favorite practice! I wrote about it recently as well. Nice list!

I thought I was the only one... I do it to connect with the aircraft and its pilots. Thank you...

Thank you for this lovely and thoughtful piece. A writer friend, who left us too soon, Patry Francis, taught me about stepping outside first thing in the morning, and taking 7 deep breaths. It is quietly grounding. Thanks again.

I love this! So sorry we lost Patry. I love this quote from her book: “You don't do anything by yourself in this world, and if it's worth anything, it's not just for yourself, either. You're either lifting up the people around you, or you're pulling them down, whether you know it or not

Thanks for the Reminder! So much to unpack from this. I normally feel best when by myself. The minute I'm around others or especially, my family of origin, I'm so fearful, I just keep talking. . and talking. It's a deep defense mechanism. I don't know how to "pause" in those moments except to pray before I leave my house. It's like once I'm with others, my thoughts race & ping-pong inside my mind like the stars darting across that night sky that I'm also fond of & gives my fears rest. A pause.

A friend in my recovery program once said, "when I face doubt, indecision, or am feeling agitated, I hit the pause button." We ask for guidance. I have a post-it note on my calendar that reminds me to just do the next right thing.

I love that. Next right step, that will take you everywhere.

An elderly gentleman who attended my home group would say this every meeting. He recently passed away just shy of his 87th birthday. I will always remember him because of this great pearl of wisdom he shared.
