I love your writing Regina, thanks so much for continuing. My mom was very much like yours, loving Christmas, and also having Alzheimer's. Merry Christmas!
What a gift that you received & passed along to us. Thank you. Possibly the biggest gift of all was that you unpacked it & allowed yourself to receive it! 💜. May you and all of us continue to receive the blessings of this season whenever they arrive. 💜🎶🎊
Oh, Regina, I’m reading this through tears. My Mom, my Mommy, died just before I turned eight. I don’t remember her last Christmas; my younger sister and I were never told how sick she was, even after she went into the hospital the following March. My Dad always talked about “when your mom comes home,” although he certainly must have known that with pancreatic cancer in 1951, she wasn’t going to. I do remember my husband Joe’s last Christmas vividly though. It was in 2020. Covid had resurged and Dr. Fauci was recommending people self isolate again. I was very protective of Joe, who was 89, twelve years my senior. My daughters and their families, not as cautious, were not about to wear masks, so we stayed home and ZOOMED with them. My older daughter has a double picture frame, Joe playing our keyboard on top and the three granddaughters, then 19, 13 and 10 in their PJs singing the Christmas songs he played at the bottom. If I had only known that in March he would die suddenly (and I’ll never know of what - the hospital didn’t do autopsies on people his age but it wasn’t Covid), I certainly would have gone to my daughter’s that last Christmas…
Bonnie, I am so sorry for that little girl you were, and still are, who lost her dear mother. And your dear husband. I hope you feel their love sparkle all over you this holiday season, in all those twinkling stars. I pray their love will find you, and continue to bless you.
