Oh my gosh, this really made me smile. Hubby and I were watching Rudolph the other night and we asked the same question, "why is the doll there?" My all-time favorite is A Charlie Brown Christmas. DH always teases me because I start to tear up as soon as Linus says, "Lights please." The classics are the best. We have a tradition of watching either George C. Scotts A Christmas Carol or Muppet Christmas Carol on Christmas Eve after going to mass and having dinner. I could write a whole post on our CD listening during the holidays.

Thanks for the reminder - I haven’t watched any yet, but what am I waiting for? It’s A Wonderful Life - when they all bring George money to save him - gets me every time, and Elf when everyone at the park starts to sing… those reminders of the loving community we really are.

For the last couple of decades I have watched Little Women with my daughter during the holiday season. It is a beautiful and outstanding movie with Susan Sarandon and Winona Ryder, Christian Bale and many others. We always cry at the scene where Jo is with Beth when she dies. Last year my daughters 4 yr old girl joined us. It is a girls’ movies for sure. My daughter died early this year very unexpectedly and I am wondering who will watch that movie with me now.

One of the last texts that she sent me was from the hospital where she was sipping broth as Beth was in the death scene. “Just ate some chicken broth and I had a flash of Jo feeding Beth “now drink this good broth””

I don’t know if I can ever watch that movie again but would like to think that I can resume that tradition with her girls one day.

I am so sorry you lost your daughter. I cannot imagine the grief you must feel. I hope that movie brings you new comfort and that you feel your daughter’s presence and love, especially now.

We have three more to add to your list.

1. A Bad Moms Christmas (kinda PG13)

2. Netflix has The Christmas Chronicles and

3. The Christmas Chronicles 2. Both star Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn and are marvelous.

Thank you,Regina. I appreciate your choices from each movie and will use your list to watch each one. I’ve never watched Scrooged and watched a portion of Christmas with the Kranks and turned it off since it seemed pretty hokey. Do you know why the movie made in Chagrin Falls with Ed Asher is never shown anymore? Merry Christmas!

I remember that. The Gathering. I remember that fishing pole and telescope gift swap well.
