You inspire us every day!!! I too went thru a divorce. Flying solo - needed to hear this years ago Never expected to have a special someone find me - but giving myself time to appreciate who I was & am now was a journey. Thank you for all you do to direct us to hope, fulfillment & peace of heart and mind.
ALS took my soul mate in 1991 when I was in my mid fifties. Now at 87 I am still flying solo although there was a bit of turbulence along the way. We are women. We are strong.
Just be sure to keep your seat belt fastened and remember that in the overhead bin, some things shift during flight:-) Having almost died myself 5 years ago I get what you're saying about the "get to", but I have lost most of my family aside from a few out of state cousins and my elder aunt. But my pup and I rescued each other almost a year ago, and we needed each other. Better family than most of the humans. Happier Birthdays to come:-) Life is short...eat dessert first:-)
I’ve just read your article twice…love the importance of flying Solo! Your weekly messages help me so much! My husband left me and our family after 28 years of marriage. I’ve been flying solo for 16 years and I’m very happy. I’ve had a few romances, engaged but ended it just in time. I have my family, friends, and my sweet Doodle, that’s all I need now.
Happy birthday, Regina. You will do just fine " flying solo". Who knows? You may yet meet another wonderful person who unexpectedly comes into your life. Just continue down the path of life and be pleasantly surprised by what each new day brings! Lots of
us are in your corner! Onward you go! Sending love and hugs.❤❤❤❤❤
Happy birthday Regina and thank you for all your insights and inspiration. Love the phrase “flying solo”, it has so much promise and adventure implied in it. ♥️
I'm in the same boat. Flying solo for the first time. Jan 2 was also THE day. How are you getting it finalized so quickly? We are still in the negotiation stage. Thank you for words of support, even if you don't realize they were meant for me. God Bless!
Happy Birthday!!! Yes my marriage ended ON our anniversary date. Same with my next long term relationship. Weird huh? I am so much happier to be solo. It's hard to be totally dependent on myself sometimes sure, but I couldn't depend on my partners much so at least I don't have to answer to anyone for my decisions!!
I'm sorry for your loss. Except for 7 years as an adult, I've never been someone's "One and Only" except to my mother, to my God & my cat, 'Pikachu'. I've lived alone since I was twenty-four, 34 years, which, is a privilege, because I understand most of the world's population live in crammed, filthy quarters with family or strangers.
I love this phrase from 'Recovery International': "Be Satisfied with Small Gains". Sometimes, I think our culture promotes "Living Your Best Life" & "Achieve, Achieve, Achieve!!" that we forget, 'We are enough', 'We Never Needed to "Prove" Ourselves in the 1st Place' & 'Being OK with Your Average Self is As Much a Success as a Writing a Book, Winning a Prize or Obtaining Another Advanced Degree'.
Although I'm not flying solo, I can tell you that turning 70 three years ago brought me a more carefree attitude and a delicious sense of freedom. Happy Birthday and all the best to you!
Love your writing and attitude! Have been in the same boat and am happier than ever. Know you are loved and respected by your readers. Happy Birthday!
